The Angeles Bahay Bata Center, one of the the largest and best-equipped
homes for street kids in the Philippines, currently houses 20 boys aged
7-18. The center has the potential capacity to shelter for as much as 80
kids. With your help and volunteerism we can make a difference in the
lives of Angelenos children and youth.
The Angeles Bahay Bata Center for Street Children was founded by the
RCCC Street Children Foundation on July 25, 2001. The Center accepts
male children aged 8-17 that have been neglected, abandoned, orphaned or abused. Female children who are
rescued and referred to the Center are sent to it's partner institution,
the Immaculate Concepcion Home at Brgy. Sta. Maria. While there are
some 20 boys in residence, 75 other kids (girls and boys) join the
Center's in-house grade school. To date, Bahay Bata Center has
successfully helped to raise 25 kids and ensure their integration into
the adult world.
The Bahay Bata center receives donations from both organizations such as the Rotary Club of Clark Centennial (RCCC) as well as numerous private individuals consisting of mostly concerned foreigners. There also are numerous fund raising events including one held in February 2011 that raised half a million pesos. According to Torres, the Center receives money only fundraisers and donations that is placed in a trust fund for the RCCC Street Children Foundation, and no staple financial support from the government.
